SUMMARY:Rim2Rim Race4Homes
DESCRIPTION:RIM2RIM RACE4HOMES is a wonderful tradition in Magic Valley! It began as a fundraiser for the College of Southern Idaho Cross Country Team and has been an annual event for the past 46 years. The race\, at times\, was held together by the racers themselves when a charity was not in place to organize it. Habitat for Humanity of the Magic Valley has been the caretaker of RIM2RIM since 2006. The race has grown from 198 participants to as many as 500\, with the addition of the ½RIM Race. The funds generated by the RIM2RIM race are used to build simple\, decent\, affordable homes in the Magic Valley. The racers registrations provide a small donation per participant but the success of this fundraiser depends on our generous sponsors. This community continually shows its commitment to Habitat for Humanity by supporting RIM2RIM\, THE RACE FOR HOMES! This year we need your help more than ever… The work that Habitat does to build with families in need of a home in our very tight housing market is important work. Habitat homeowners must prove\; that they are living in substandard housing\, have a consistent income\, they cannot qualify for a home loan on the open market and that they are willing to partner and put in 300-500 hours of “Sweat Equity” prior to purchasing their home. This willingness to partner\, the need and the ability to pay must all be met to become a Habitat Partner Family. Habitat then builds or remodels a home\, alongside the family\, with volunteers and local vendors. Habitat acts as the bank and the family pays back a zero interest note for only the cost to build or remodel the home\, thus keeping it affordable. Every home that Habitat sells to a family helps to fund the next home that will be built. By holding all the home loans\, Habitat is increasing the number of affordable home units in your community each time Habitat is able to build. This is a simple solution to a very real problem in our community. We are currently building in with 2 families in Kimberly and have donated land in Castleford. Habitat homes offer individual families a strong foundation to build better lives. These homes also have broader economic and fiscal impacts\, from an increase in property values to a decrease in the need for government help by our partner families. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities. CAN YOU CONTINUE TO OR JOIN US IN BUILDING BY DONATING\, ADVOCATING OR VOLUNTEERING TODAY?
